MP for Dhagethi constituency and President of Maldives National Party Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim has described the opposition's 'India Out' campaign as an 'atrocity' to hide former President and Opposition Leader Abdullah Yameen's own wrongdoings.

At a news conference held by the party today, MP Nazim said that even MNP does not support stationing foreign troops in the Maldives. But Nazim said that he believed the 'India Out' campaign by the opposition is a farce by Yameen to hide his own faults committed during his five-year tenure as President.

He called on the public not to take part in the campaign.

We don't view the 'India Out' campaign as a national campaign. It is being run without regard to the country's economy and without a focus. I urge citizens not to take part in the campaign
MNP President Nazim

Speaking at the same news conference MP for Thimarafushi constituency and Vice President of MNP Abdullah Riyaz said that it is not a valid enough reason to target one country just because government foreign policy is lacking and the country is dependent on one country.

Meanwhile, MP for Villimale Constituency and Vice President of MNP Ahmed Ushaam pointed out that India had deployed its troops in the Maldives during President Yameen's tenure and questioned why it was permitted back then.

The 'India Out' campaign and the rhetoric against it had gained momentum these past few days after Yameen took part in events held in nearby islands to promote the anti-India sentiment.
