The Prosecutor General's Office has officially charged Bangladeshi national Shah Alom Mia (Salim) for the murder of Alifu Dhaalu Dhagethi businessman Mahmood Abubakuru.
The 57-year-old businessman was found murdered and dumped in a well on the island last October after his family had reported him missing. The well was located in an abandoned house on the island.
Police had arrested the 29-year-old Bangladeshi national after he was suspected of wrongdoing. Salim was the caretaker of an elderly man living on the island and the man's house is located on the same street as the abandoned house where the victim was found.
The PG Office filed 2 charges against Salim including murder with intent and abuse of a corpse.
The Police had said that the suspect had confessed to the killing and that they belive the motive behind the killing was money.
Police had also said that they were looking to file 6 charges against the foreigner and that the man had acted alone in the brutal murder that shocked the nation.
