Male' City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with the 21 employees from the Gender Ministry who were dismissed from their posts at the Kuda Kudhinnge Hiya Orphanage in Villimale'.
In the meeting, Dr. Muizzu said that he regrets the ministry's decision to dismiss that staff from the Kudkudinn get Hiya.
He noted that the 21 employees were released from their duties because of policy changes and regrets the decision to make them jobless.
The Mayor said that the fairest decision would have been to transfer these staff to another organization and not make them go jobless.
One of the staff who was fired from their posts had said that they were notified of the dismissal citing policy and structural changes to the ministry hierarchy.
The staff had said that although the ministry had sent the notice of termination to these employees, none of the staff had accepted the termination.
The Gender Ministry had said before that since the ministry had moved to vacate the orphanage in Villimale and transfer the children there to safe houses established in the Atolls.
