Maldives National Party (MNP) has appointed MP for Thimarafushi constituency Abdullah Riyaz as its Parliamentary Group Leader after recently being registered as a political party.
MNP said that it appointed MP for Villimale constituency Ahmed Usham as its Vice Parliamentary group leader.
It said that since its registration as a political party in the Maldives, the Parliament's secretariat has been working to ensure its representation in the parliament.
MNP said that 3 MPs would be representing the party in parliament this term. These include MPs Riyaz and Usham as well as MP for Dhagethi constituency Colonel Retired Mohamed Nazim.
MP Nazim is the President of MNP while MP Riyaz and Usham have been appointed as his deputies at the newly formed party.
MNP was added to the Political Party Registry last Monday after it had submitted its application for registration last month along with signatures of more than 5,000 members.
