A man arrested for alleged assault against a 19-year-old woman has been remanded in custody for 10 days.
Police said that they had received the report of the alleged assault in the earlier hours of Friday at 01:30 am and that a man was arrested in relation to the assault.
Police had said that the suspect who was arrested was 19 years of age too.
Police are further investigating the assault.
The arrest came after reports circulated on social media platforms that a woman had been abducted and assaulted in the Greater Male' Area.
Thought Police are yet to confirm the abduction of the victim, reports have said that the abductor had kidnapped the victim from Hulhumale' and had brought the victim to Male'.
Social media accounts have also said that the victim was saved by her family and friends.
