Health Protection Agency HPA has reported an additional 141 new cases of COVID-19 in the country on Monday.
HPA said that the new cases include 108 cases from inhabited islands, 29 cases from the Greater Male' Area, and 4 new cases from operational resorts.
The new cases take the total number of cases reported in the country to 84,720.
HPA also said that from the total samples tested today, 1,518 samples are from the Greater Male' Area and added that the positivity rate in the Greater Male' Area is currently at 2 percent.
HPA had said that yesterday that 106 people had recovered from the illness on Monday and that there are 1,601 active cases of the pandemic in the country right now.
The Agency had also said that 19 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 231 individuals in the Maldives since April 2020 and most of those who died are elderly locals with underlying health conditions.
HPA had also revealed that the total cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly related to COVID-19.
