Health Protection Agency HPA has reported more than 200 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives on Tuesday.

In its daily update, HPA said that yesterday 220 new cases were confirmed across the country and that 164 new cases were reported from the inhabited islands.

HPA also said that 45 new cases were confirmed from the Greater Male' Area and that 5 cases were reported from operational resorts while another 6 were confirmed from safaris.

The new cases take the total number of cases to 83,875 in the Maldives with authorities confirming 81,939 recoveries.

HPA had said that there are 1,694 active cases of the pandemic in the country and that 20 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment in the country.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has claimed the lives of 229 people here in the Maldives.

HPA had also said that the total positives include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
