Speaker of the parliament Mohamed Nasheed says several people should be arrested suddenly in a bid to overcome the issues the country is currently facing.
Nasheed made these comments while speaking after launching a chat room on the new social media app Clubhouse on the occasion of MDP's 16th anniversary.
The clubhouse is an invitation-only social media app for iOS and Android where users can communicate in voice chat rooms that accommodate groups of thousands of people. The audio-only app hosts live discussions, with opportunities to participate through speaking and listening.
Nasheed said that the country is facing a dark and bleak future and that this future relates to the fact that many in the country are now ready to go to the extreme of giving up their lives on suicide attacks and missions.
He went onto say that if such people are left alone, such attacks would become a reality in the Maldives.
Nasheed said that this is the time to suddenly apprehend several people and avert the issues currently plaguing the country.
The Speaker is currently in Germany, recuperating from a failed attempt on his life last month after he was targeted in an IED attack.
