Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that nearly 70,000 people in the Maldives have now been given two doses of the vaccine developed to fight the global pandemic COVID-19 which has killed 71 people in the island nation.

The latest vaccination update by the HPA showed that 69,802 people in the country have now been fully immunized against the pandemic after they received two doses of the COVID vaccine.

HPA also said that 288, 903 people across the country have now been given the first dose of the COVID vaccine in the Maldives as the country is on course of inoculating its vaccine-eligible population against the pandemic in the coming months.

The Agency had confirmed that there are 11 vaccination centers and 4 mobile teams in the Greater Male' Area while authorities have set up 240 vaccination centers in the Atolls.

HPA is overseeing the administration of three brands of COVID vaccine in the country right now and this includes Covishield, Sinopharm, and Pfizer vaccines.

HPA has started giving the second dose of the Covishield and Sinopharm vaccine, Pfizer is only available to pre-registered individuals and is being administered on an appointment-only basis.
