Vice Speaker of the Parliament Eva Abdullah says the Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed is still under home quarantine and that two other MPs are under self-isolation.

Speaking at the Parliament today, MP Eva said that Nasheed was under home quarantine following his trip to the UK after returning back on the 22nd of September.

Under HPA guidelines all traveling abroad must now stay under quarantine for 14-days upon their return back to the country.

This came as the parliament resumes its sittings after the month-long recess.

There are no reported COVID-19 cases among the MPs of the parliament but staff working at the legislative house had previously tested positive for the pandemic that has afflicted 10530 people in the country.

The parliament had been disinfected on multiple occasions because of the positive cases reported earlier.

It had been carrying out the sitting under the guidelines set by the Health Protection Agency HPA.

This includes maintaining social distancing protocols between MPs and also MPs and parliamentary staff is always seen with facemasks.
