The President’s Office has opened the opportunity to apply for the forthcoming vacancy on the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).

It said that the application for membership was opened as the previous applicants sent for parliament approval were rejected.

The President’s Office said that it will accept applications between 21-23 September 2020, from 0930 hours to 1230 hours. Application forms are available for download at presidency.gov.mv.

Earlier this month, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed three new members to the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives which included Aminath Shifaath Abdul Razzaq, Moomina Waheed, and Dr. Ahmed Adham Abdulla.

President Solih appointed the three members to the HRCM under the powers vested in him by section 5 (a) of the Human Rights Commission Act (Act 6/2006), which stipulates that the members of the Commission shall be appointed by the President after approval from the Parliament.
