Maldives Meteorological Service MET Office has issued an orange alert for the area between Baa Atoll to Addu City as the bad weather affecting major parts of the country worsens
In its alert, MET Office said that average winds of 34-40 mph (miles per hour) with gusts of 60 mph are expected along with very rough seas.
In a statement, the MET office had said that the bad weather is expected to continue in major parts of the country for the next 24 hours. It had forecasted that some islands would experience torrential rain along with strong winds and rough seas.
MET Office added that swell wave surges are also expected in some islands.
It called on travelers to be wary of tough conditions and to take all necessary precautionary measures.
