The Parliament has forwarded the 8 nominations made by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for the Human Rights Commission of Maldives HRCM to the relevant parliamentary committee.

Last Wednesday President Solih sent the names of 8 applicants for the 4 vacant positions at the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM), for Parliamentary consideration.

During today’s sitting, the parliament forwarded the names to the Committee on Human Rights and Gender for further deliberation.

The list of names of the 8 applicants include;

  • Mariyam Laiza, H. Fehiaalaa
  • Ibrahim Zaahid, Lilymaage, Gaafu Dhaalu Vaadhoo
  • Dr. Adhuham Abdullah, MA. Maaveyoge
  • Aminath Shifaath Abdulrazaaq, Dorenceevilla, Seenu Feydhoo
  • Hussain Amr, V.Roshan
  • Moomina Waheeda, M. Jiaanaa
  • Azleema Ahmed, Dhaftharu Number RS 94-341
  • Mohamed Fauzee, Bahaarumaage, Gaafu Alifu Villigilli

The Committee will interview each candidate and send the names of the selected nominees to the parliament floor where the appointees would be confirmed via parliamentary approval.

The vacancies on the commission followed from the resignation of three HRCM members and the completion of one member's term.
