Raa Atoll Dhuvaafaru has reported another case of COVID-19 from the island.

Speaking to ‘The Press’, Dhuvaafaru Council member Hawwa Saleema said a person who had completed the 14-day mandatory home quarantine had tested positive for COVID-19. She said the council is unable to verify the number of people under home quarantine with the positive individual.

Sources have said three others are residing in the same home.

Authorities have confirmed three other cases of COVID-19 from the island before when three people from the same household were tested positive following their 14-days home quarantine. The situation became precarious after the authorities initially informed the family that their test was negative but later on said that they had in fact tested positive for COVID-19.

The family had visited several households on the island after their initial test result and Health Emergency Operation Center had carried out a widespread contact tracing to rule out a community spread on the island.

Health Protection Agency HPA had confirmed that 21 islands and 10 resorts across the country are currently hosting active cases of COVID-19.
