Health Protection Agency HPA says 140 individuals had recovered from the COVID-19 illness on Wednesday in the Maldives.

In its latest update, HPA said that a total of 3788 individuals have now recovered from the illness since the pandemic reached the country’s shores back in March.

HPA also said that active cases of COVID-19 in the country have now reached 2407.

It said that while 1427 individuals have been isolated in government-run facilities across the country, 144 remained hospitalized for further treatment.

The global Pandemic has claimed 24 lives here in the Maldives including 19 locals and 5 foreigners.

It has been confirmed that 8 people have lost their lives to COVID-19 in the country this month alone with a 41-year-old dying from the illness yesterday. She is the youngest Maldivian to die from COVID-19 while many of the deceased from the Maldives are elderly with underlying health issues.

The five foreigners include 4 Bangladeshi nationals and 1 Filipino national.
