A member of the City Council has lodged a no-confidence complaint against Male' City Mayor Shifa Mohamed.
Sources close to the matter inform local media 'The Press' the complaint was lodged during Tuesday's 103rd official congress of the City Council.
The no-confidence complaint from one of the council's members has been accepted to the authority, with City Council ordering a summoning on Male' City's Mayor within a period of 10 days.
Moreover, sources claim the complaint has been lodged after review based on the amendments under Maldives Constitution in 2019. Local Government Authority advises to proceed with the matter through legal parameters, adding Tuesday's congress was conducted under the same context.
Reports further claim Male' City Council's deputy and another counciler were not in favor of the no-confidence motion against Mayor Shifa Mohamed. Additionally eight of the coucil members have voted in favor inquiring both Mayor and her deputy over negligence towards the Decentralization Act.
Earlier in July, another no-confidence complaint was lodged against the Male' City Mayor.
