Health Protection Agency has identified five labs across the country that has been designated as the PCR testing laboratories for travelers.

These labs include three in the Greater Male Area and one in the north and another in the south of the country.

HPA said travelers can get their PCR testing done at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital IGMH, ADK Hospital, and Treetop Hospital in the capital Male’ City. The price for the testing varies at each hospital with IGMH charging MVR 1534 for each test and ADK charging MVR 1500 for a PCR test.

HPA confirmed that Treetop hospital in Hulhumale would charge MVR 2000 from each traveler for a PCR test.

Meanwhile, laboratories in Kulhufushi Regional Hospital and Addu Equatorial Hospital are also equipped to carry out the PCR test and would charge the same as IGMH.

HPA noted that to receive results on time, samples must reach the lab 48 hours prior to the departure time of the traveler.

It also said that labs would require a copy of the travel itinerary and any other items requested by the labs.

The tourism Ministry has mandated that each traveler departing the country must do a PCR test for COVID-19.

HPA has confirmed active cases of COVID-19 in 9 resorts and that this includes 5 tourists and 12 staff since the country reopened its borders on the 15th of July.
