Health Protection Agency HPA says over 3000 individuals who had tested positive for COVID-19 have now overcome the illness.
In its latest update, HPA said that 90 people had recovered from the illness on Friday.
With this now a total of 3010 people has been declared cured of the COVID-19 pandemic here in the Maldives since March of this year.
However, 2540 active cases of COVID-19 still remained in the country with 150 individuals hospitalized for further treatment.
HPA confirmed that 1508 people are currently placed in isolation facilities run by the state.
The country has been experiencing a recent surge in new cases of COVID-19 with over 200 cases reported in the last 48 hours.
Authorities have ramped up the restrictive measures taken against global pandemic especially in the Greater Male' Area where the infection is rampant.
Earlier this month, Authorities imposed a 7-hour curfew in the capital city from 10 pm to 5 am every day to restrict the movement of individuals and vehicles to further deter the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also, authorities have now made it mandatory for individuals to wear facemasks when in public in the Greater Male' Area and any other island with active cases of COVID-19.
The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 22 lives here in the Maldives including 17 locals and five foreigners
