Maldives Media Council makes a formal request for a faster investigation towards the sexual harassment and abuse allegations made against top news editor Adam Haleem.

Adam Haleem, the Chief Editor of premier local news Avas Online has been hailed as one of the leading figures in the Maldivian news and journalism field.

Haleem, who have received numerous accolades for his lengthy career in the field came under scrutiny following multiple sexual abuse and harassment complaints surfacing across social media platforms, made by several female workers who held employment as his subordinates.

In a press statement on Thursday, Maldives Media Council affirms requesting both Maldives Police Service and Ministry Gender, Family and Social Services to complete the investigation in a quick and orderly manner. Moreover, MMC in their statement affirms close monitoring of the journalism field as well as the well-being of journalists and reporters as the parental authority in the field.

Moreover, MMC claims it will not be hesitant to apply any disciplinary actions should it be required following any findings or revelations against Haleem during the investigation.
