The Education Ministry has scheduled the 2nd term of the current academic year to begin in January 2021.

As per the new academic calendar released by the Ministry, the first term of the current academic year is set to conclude on the 3rd of December.

According to the new calendar, the first term holidays would begin on the 6th of December and Continue on till the 7th of January next year.

It also showed that the 2nd term studies would begin on the 12th of January 2021 and would continue till the 24th of June. The second term of the current academic year would last 113 days as per the changes made to the new calendar.

With the new changes, the school holidays would begin from 27th June and would last till the 8th of August with the new academic year scheduled to commence on the 10th of August.

The COVID-19 crisis in the country had forced schools in the country to close down in March of this year but sessions resumed in July for grades 1-12 in the islands and for the upper grades in the Greater Male’ Area.

But following the dramatic rise in COVID-19 cases in the capital City, Education Ministry had again decided to close down schools and revert back to online classes for the upper grades too.
