Maldives Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell by 0.41 percent in June 2020 compared to the slight rise of 0.05 percent in May 2020, according to National Bureau of Statistics.
NBS further confirms the CPI for all groups saw a recession by -4.50 percent through the year to June 2020 when compared with the plunge of -3.87 percent through the year to May 2020.
The heaviest price reduction hit was observed in vegetables at -5.70 percent along with a drop in fixed communication services which fell by -5.33 percent. Price reduction on fruits was observed at a decline of -4.90 percent while the price of fish fell by -4.23 percent.
Moreover, CPI on mobile communication services fell by -2.03% and actual rentals paid by tenants from main residenec fell by -0.20 percent.
At the other end of the spectrum, the most significant price bumps were observed from pets and products for pets which rose by 16.35 percent and from recreational and sporting services at 14.57 percent.
In addition to this, prices saw inflation from restaurants, cafes and similar businesses at 2.02% in June, following the lift-off in restrictive measures in Greater Male' Region while other parts of the country saw complementing boosts in the segment as well.
