Health authorities on Wednesday confirm a total of 148 Covid-19 positive cases with the number of active cases surging over 1,800 in Maldives.

According to Health Protection Agency (HPA) the positive cases counted as of the last 24 hours, the batch consists of 117 Maldivians along with 22 Bangladeshis, 7 Indians along with 1 foreigner from Nepal and another from Seychelles.

Maldives reports 4,594 positive cases inclusive of both recoveries and active cases. Moreover the total number of active cases reaches 1,869 while 1,282 remain in isolation facilities.

On the other hand, health authorities further confirm 13 recoveries on Wednesday.

So far authorities have discovered positive cases from a total of 10 islands in Maldives, while several of these islands have been brought under HPA's monitoring.

As of now a total of 19 individuals have died due to Covid-19 in Maldives which includes 14 locals and 5 expatriates. Most of these cases include elderly citizens.
