Health Protection Agency HPA has lifted Raa Ungoofaru from monitoring status after the samples taken from the island tested negative for COVID-19.
The island was placed under monitoring after a patient treated at Ungoofaru Regional Hospital URH tested positive for COVID-19 after being transferred to Male’.
Speaking to ‘The Press’ Public Relations and Media Official at Ungoofaru Regional Hospital Hassan Fazeel confirmed that all the samples taken from the contacts of positive had tested negative and that the island was lifted from monitoring last night.
He also said that there are several individuals still under isolation following the positive case and that these individuals would only be tested with 4 to 5 days if they show any symptoms of COVID-19.
The contacts of the positive tested for COVID-19 include two doctors, 1 nurse from UHR, a child of the positive patient and another patient admitted at UHR.
The individual who was transferred to Male’ yesterday was initially shifted to UHR from Lhaviyani Olhuvelifushi.
Sources have said that UHR had tested the patient for COVID-19 before transferring the individual to Male’ and that the result had come back negative.
But after IGMH hospital retested the patient upon arrival in the hospital, the individual had tested positive for COVID-19.
