President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has declared that government offices are to remain closed from 4th to 6th August 2020, as a precautionary measure against the further spread of COVID-19.

The President encouraged those who are able to work from home to do so, and to provide services to the public through online means.

This decision was announced this evening as the 24th directive issued by the President’s Office.

It comes with a significant rise in cases with authorities confirming 344 new cases in the last 48 hours.

This takes the total number of positive individuals to a staggering 4293 since the country’s first case back in March.

Health Protection Agency HPA also indicated that 27 individuals recovered from the illness today, taking the total number of recovered to a promising 2670.

But HPA indicated that there are 1490 active cases of COVID-19 in the country with 92 hospitalized for further treatment
