Health Protection Agency HPA has closed down 80 establishments in 3 days after its mass inspection in the capital Male’ City.
HPA said that yesterday it closed down 3 establishments, which included 1 barbershop/salon and two shops.
On Thursday, HPA had shutdown 50 establishments including 24 shops, 22 restaurants, and 4 salons/barber shops.
While on Wednesday, it had closed down 27 enterprises including 17 restaurants, 9 shops, and 1 salon/barber shop.
In the last 3 days, HPA has inspected 186 establishments in the Male’ area for adherence to COVID-19 safety guidelines.
HPA’s initiative came as the country struggles with a surge of COVID-19 cases with 226 new cases of the pandemic reported in the country in the last 48 hours.
Authorities have warned that the situation is expected to worsen with the number of hospitalized cases of COVID-19 set to increase.
Currently, health officials are treating 65 COVID-19 patients in hospitals as the number of elderly patients with COVID-19 has also increased in the last few days.
