Health Protection Agency HPA has closed down an additional 50 establishments for disobeying its guidelines following the mass inspection by the Agency.

HPA said that a total of 99 establishments were inspected on Thursday and that 50 of those were temporarily closed down for failing to adhere to the guidelines set by HPA.

HPA said that these include 4 salon/barber shops, 22 café’ and restaurants as well as 22 shops.

On Wednesday HPA had inspected 52 establishments and that 27 of the inspected enterprises were temporarily closed down.

Meanwhile, HEOC Spokesperson Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq had said that the mass inspection would be carried out today as well and that the HPA did not want to close down retail outlets, as they are major parts of the economy.

But she said that these outlets must be operated under the guidelines set by HPA.
