Health Minister Abdullah Ameen says Health Protection Agency HPA has temporarily closed down 27 establishments after a follow-up of the mass public health inspection yesterday.

Speaking on Raaje TV’s ‘Fala Suruhee’ program Ameen said a total of 52 establishments were inspected yesterday and that 27 of the inspected enterprises were temporarily closed down.

HPA had said that these included 1 salon/barber shops, 9 shops, and 17 café’ and restaurants.

HPA had conducted the follow-up of the mass inspection to check adherence of COVID-19 safety guidelines of cafés, restaurants, shops, gyms & fitness centers, salons, and markets.

The latest update from HPA shows that 3567 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 with a surge of new cases reported in the last couple of days.

HPA has said that 2554 individuals have recovered from the illness but there are currently 983 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.
