A tourist arriving in Maldives on Monday, 27 July 2020, has tested positive for Covid-19 viral disease.

Meanwhile, Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) have attested the information to local media outlet 'The Press', nothing Monday's case is the first such incident since border reopening.

Spokesperson of HEOC, Dr. Nazla Rafeeq confirms the traveler has been identified as an American tourist, who traveled to Maldives under a tourist-visa.

Health authorities are currently attempting to contact-trace to assess the spread and find possible primary and secondary contacts.

Moreover, Dr. Nazla asserts the authorities were attempting to transfer the traveler into an isolation unit under HPA guidelines, while adding the traveler was at Cheval Blanc Randheli.
