President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has participated in the ceremonial flag hoisting ceremony on the occasion of the Maldives’ 55th Anniversary of Independence.

The ceremony was held at the Republic Square at 0600 hours, early on Sunday morning.

Upon his arrival, the President was greeted by the Minister of Defense Mariya Ahmed Didi and Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla.

A special prayer was recited at the flag hoisting ceremony by the Imam of Masjid-al-Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu Al Auzam.

Vice President Faisal Naseem and other senior government officials were also in attendance at the ceremony.

Simultaneously, such ceremonies were held across the nation to mark the country's 55th Independence Day today.
