Another group of candidates have formally rescinded their candidacy from the slated local council election and women's development committee elections.
Local reports confirm a total of 6 additional prospective candidates retracted their candidacy on Monday, which included three independent candidates, one representing Jumhoory Party and two representing the ruling party; MDP.
Meanwhile a total of 21 candidates have formally retracted their candidacy from the scheduled local council elections, while Elections Commission had redacted five candidates from the list already.
One of these redactions by Elections Commission include a candidate who has since passed away.
