The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for Atolls from Haa Alifu to Laamu today as a major part of the country experiences a bout of rough weather conditions.
The met office said between 12:00 pm to 16:00 pm today, Atolls from Haa Alifu to Laamu would experience strong winds of 25-30mph and gusts of 50-55mph.
It also said that rough sea conditions were expected during that period.
In the last couple of days, the country has experienced bad weather across all the Atolls with several accidents reported on the sea.
Yesterday, 9 men were rescued off the coast of Kaafu Atoll Huraa after their fishing vessel sank amid high waves and tough conditions.
Last night, a boat traveling from Raa Atoll Aarah also sank due to bad weather, and the five on board were rescued from sea.
Authorities have warned travelers of the bad weather conditions and have called on seafarers to take all precautionary measures.
