Maldives Police Service confirm collecting testimonies from 15 apparent witnesses related to the case against former Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed.
The development was confirmed on Thursday during the press conference held by Maldives Police. Chief Inspector of Police Mariyam Azma made the attestments.
However, the law enforcement authority remained discreet about the identities of all 15 witnesses.
Meanwhile Maldives Police claim consulting with Prosecutor General over the case proceedings, while Deputy Police Commissioner Abdul Mannan Yoosuf claims the alleged former minister has not been questioned regarding sexual harassment allegations.
Mannan reasoned out on this by further stating the investigation led by Maldives Police so far has not provided ample reason for such conduct.
Maldives Police so far have not collected statement from the alleged ex-minister, while police comments on the travel ban on Waheed. The local law enforcement claim the decision was necessary to ensure investigative procedure does not face any interruptions.
Earlier, several employees of Ministry of Tourism lodged formal complaints with Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih against Waheed alleging of multiple counts of sexual harassment.
