Health Protection Agency HPA confirms that the number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has now reached 2491 with 56 new cases reported in the past two days.
In its latest tweet, HPA said 23 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the country today with 33 reported yesterday.
HPA said that today’s cases included 16 Maldivians and 7 Bangladeshi nationals.
HPA also said that 64 people have recovered from the illness in the country today. It said that this has taken the total number of recovered cases to a promising 2113 with 361 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.
HPA confirmed that 280 people still remained in isolation while 107 people are quarantined at various locations in the country.
Twelve people have died of COVID-19 in the country including 7 Maldivians and 5 foreigners.
The locals who died of COVID-19 include 4 men and 3 women all above the age of 80-years except for one woman who died at the age of 77.
