The first positive case discovered at Gaaf Alif atoll Maamendhoo has been transferred to Male' City on Monday.

According to the council president of Maamendhoo, Ahmed Zaeem the patient was transferred to Maldives capital on Monday morning for treatment.

The remaining two positive cases reported from the island are still under home-quarantine, confirmed the council president.

Reports confirm the individual who became the index case of Maamendhoo, traveled to the island on 18 June. Two others who traveled in the same flight as the Maamendhoo-index patient tested positive for Covid-19 recently.

Meanwhile 5 individuals identified through contact-tracing in relation to the Maamendhoo index case have been placed under quarantine.
