NEOC Technical Advisory Group TAG Team’s top doctor Dr. Ali Latheef says if the Covid-19 virus starts spreading again, the lockdown would be reinstated in its full effect.
In a video clip released by Health Protection Agency HPA, Dr. Latheef said that with the ease of the lockdown measures, a lot of people have been on the streets of Male’ City and that this could cause a widespread infection of the Covid-19 virus.
Dr. Latheef said once a widespread of the infection is confirmed, the lockdown would be reinstated in its strictest form.
He said, although the lockdown has been eased, individuals must not go outside unless absolutely necessary and should still remain within the safety of their homes.
Authorities placed Male’ Area under lockdown following its first case of Covid-19 back in April.
But with the drop in the number of cases tested positive each day since the first of June, authorities implemented the second phase of the lockdown ease starting the 15th of June.
The lockdown ease allowed the general public to go outside between 5 am to 10 pm without a permit while all retail stores were allowed to start their operations.
