A staff from Ensis Fisheries has tested positive for Covid-19.
An official from the tuna processing company based in the Maldives confirmed that a female staff working for the company temporarily has tested positive for Covid-19.
The official said the company only found out about the positive result today.
The official also said that authorities were now completing the contact tracing work for the positive individual. The official added that part of the Tuna processing factory was closed down and was now being disinfected as a precautionary measure.
The official assured that the whole factory was not closed down following the positive result and that the factory was operational. The official also confirmed that the factory is thoroughly cleaned after every shift and that this practice has been in place even before the Covid-19 crisis as per international standards.
The official from Ensis Fisheries also confirmed that no other employee has been isolated regarding this case.
HPA has confirmed that 2150 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives with over 1769 individuals recovered. The Maldives has recorded 8 deaths with Covid-19, which leave 371 people still seeking treatment for the illness.
