Maldives government on Thursday announced the lockdown exercised on Greater Male' Region will be extended for another 3-day period.

The Greater Male' Region have been under lockdown since 15 April 2020, after the very first Covid-19 positive case was discovered from Male' City.

Regular outside activities were barred by authorities, allowing public to go out for only necessities such as shopping for food and other important items such as medicine or hygeine products.

Public were allowed to go out only after acquiring valid permission from Maldives Police Service, detailing out the purpose of the trip and destination.

Earlier, Maldives government placed further restrictive measures by ceasing transport across Sinamale' Bridge between 01:00hrs until 06:00hrs of the following day.

The steps were taken to ensure the viral contagion spread was controlled to a maximum.

It has been more than a month since the Greater Male' Region have been under total lockdown.
