Acting CEO of the Pension Administration Office Fathimath Sujatha Haleem says it has come to the attention of the administration that some employees remain unregistered in the pension fund.
Speaking to the media at the online news conference organized by the NEOC, Sujatha said that when private offices seek permission to re-open their workplaces amid the lockdown, the administration was working with the Ministry of Economy to ensure that these employees are registered in the pension fund.
She also said that it is mandatory for employers to register their staff in the pension fund and that temporary staff or staff on probation is not exempted from this rule.
In her comments, Sujatha addressed the employees of various offices and said that having their names registered on the pension fund would only benefit them. She urged employees to take it upon themselves to make sure that they are registered on the fund.
Sujatha also said some offices only registered some of its employers on the fund. She called on all employers to registers all employees to the fund regardless of their employment status as part-time workers or employees who worked under contract.
She said that employees could register their staff on the scheme during the lockdown as well and the permission to go back to work would only be granted to those registered on the fund.
