Health authorities on Thursday confirm discovering 30 new patients who have contracted the Covid-19 virus in Maldives.
With the newest batch, the total number of positive cases reported by health authorities in Maldives have climbed to 1216.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) claimed the latest Covid-19 patients included 14 Maldivians, 10 Bangladeshis and 6 Indians.
The average age group or the cluster of origin of Thursday's confirmed cases have not been disclosed or detailed by authorities. It has not been ascertained if the positive cases were discovered from individuals under quarantine or in isolation.
Meanwhile National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), the prime anti-coronavirus task force in Maldives confirmed several samples have yet to be acquired.
In addition, the authority claimed many of the samples were still pending on its testing.
HPA has not disclosed if the newly discovered positive cases were tested from previously acquired samples or from latest batches.
Health authorities, coincide Maldives will readily experience the peak of community outbreak within the upcoming two-week period. Authorities note during the said period, positive cases will hit maximum.
Earlier, HPA medical officers forecast the peak expected on 30 and 31 May will reportedly confirm 1600 positive cases, 34 hospitalizations and 12 ICU treatments.
