Health Protection Agency HPA confirms 43 new cases of Covid-19 today, 74 days after the global pandemic reached the country’s shores.

In a tweet, HPA reported that 10 locals, 28 Bangladeshis, 4 Indians and 1 Nepalese national tested positive for Covid-19 today.

Today’s cases take the total number of Covid-19 cases in the Maldives to 1186.

The latest update on Health Ministry’s Covid-19 Dashboard stated that 424 locals have tested positive for Covid-19 while 762 foreigners have tested positive for the virus here in the Maldives.

Most of these are Bangladeshi nationals working in the country with 609 Bangladeshis tested positive for Covid-19.

91 people have recovered from the illness in the Maldives while four people have died from the virus.

This includes an 83-year-old local woman, a 33-year-old Bangladeshi national, an 80-year-old local man, and the 88-year-old husband of the first woman who passed away with Covid-19.
