Maldives Meteorological Services Met Office has issued a yellow alert to the areas from Baa Atoll to Addu city with weather expected to worsen across the nation.
In its advisory, the Met Office said that torrential rain and thunderstorms are expected with strong winds of 28-35 mph gusting to 55 - 60 mph.
The Met Office also said rough seas are expected between 17:00hrs to 22:00hrs within this area.
The Met Office issued a yellow alert for areas within Haa Alifu Atoll to Raa Atoll with strong winds, torrential rain and rough seas expected.
The Maldives has been experiencing a bout of bad weather with flooding reported in parts of the country.
