Health Protection Agency HPA confirms that the number of Covid-19 cases in the country has reached 1020 today.
In a tweet, HPA reported 38 additional cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives today alone.
It said that this includes 29 Maldivians, 8 Bangladeshis, and 1 Nepalese.
Four people have died of Covid-19 in the Maldives. This includes an 83-year-old local woman, a 33-year-old Bangladeshi national, an 80-year-old local man, and an 88-year-old Maldivian man.
A total of 46 people have recovered from the global pandemic in the Maldives. This includes 32 locals and 14 foreigners.
HPA officials have warned that the current surge of the virus will hit a peak at the end of the month, with 1600 forecasted to test positive on the peak day itself.
