Foreign Ministry says two rescue flights from National Carrier Maldivian will repatriate 234 locals stranded in India tomorrow.

The Ministry said these locals would be flown back to Maldives from 16 Indian cities. It said that this includes Punjab, Calcutta, Delhi, Cochin, Trivandrum, Bangalore, and Pune.

Foreign Ministry said the Maldivian airbus would take Male’-Delhi-Trivandrum-Male’ route when repatriating the locals tomorrow. It added that the Dash aircraft would take the Male’-Trivandrum-Male’ route and is expected to land around 13:10hrs tomorrow afternoon.

Foreign Ministry also said that Maldivians living in faraway areas are now traveling to Delhi and Trivandrum.

The Ministry also said locals taking tomorrow flights include those stuck in India after flight cancellations, people who traveled to India to seek treatment for serious illnesses but are unable to continue treatment amid the Covid-19 lockdown in India, Maldivians living in remote areas and also Maldivians who traveled to India on short visas.
