Health Protection Agency HPA says 19 more individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the country as authorities confirm a new surge of cases.
Speaking to the media, NEOC Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said 19 more individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the country today. However, he did not give any details about the newly confirmed cases.
The new cases takes the total number of positive case reported today to 41. HPA had earlier announced a further 22 cases including 16 Bangladeshi nationals, 4 locals, 1 Indian, and a Nepalese national.
HPA had said a total of 785 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 in the country. This includes 257 locals and 528 foreigners.
While 29 people have recovered from the virus, 3 others have died of the virus in the country.
Authorities have said that the current surge in positive cases will hit a peak around 31st of May and that 1600 could test positive for the virus on that day alone.
