Health Protection Agency HPA reports that a 7-month-old infant has tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives.
Latest update on Health Ministry’s Covid-19 dashboard revealed that a 7-month-old boy was among those tested positive for the virus yesterday. This is the youngest ever case of Covid-19 in the country yet.
The latest update showed that a 2-year-old girl and a 7-year-old girl were also tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.
Yesterday a total of 96 cases were reported in the Maldives, most of them foreigners.
So far, 744 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the country with 3 deaths recorded in the Maldives. This includes two elderly locals and a 33-year-old Bangladeshi national.
Authorities have warned that the next two weeks would prove critical in the fight against the virus with the current surge of cases expected to hit peak within the time frame. Officials have warned that the greater Male’ Area would not be safe to visit in the next two months and that stricter lockdown measures could yet to be implemented in place of the existing ones.
