Health Protection Agency HPA’s Dr. Afzal says shoppers who visit stores around the city are most likely to spread the Covid-19 virus in Male’ City right now with the whole city currently under lockdown.

Speaking to the media, in answer to a question posed by ‘The Press’ Dr. Afzal said shoppers who visit stores while the city is under lockdown must be mindful of certain things.

Dr. Afzal said when visiting stores shoppers must maintain social distancing, must wear facemasks when stepping outside and should wash their hands thoroughly after returning home from shopping.

The doctor said items that are brought must also be disinfected and if the item is readymade it can be emptied into containers available at home. Dr. Afzal instructed that individuals should remain watchful when throwing away the packaging and must wash their hands afterward.

NEOC Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez also urged patrons to reduce the number of goods delivered to their homes and advised them to buy goods in bulk if they are able to do so.
