Health Protection Agency HPA’s Dr. Ibrahim Afzal says 3 more people related to the ‘Amaaz’ boat cluster have tested positive for Covid-19.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Afzal said out of the 3 new cases related to ‘Amaaz’ boat, 2 were tested positive on Friday, and that another was tested positive yesterday.
Nine others were tested positive previously in relation to this cluster making it 12 individuals in total.
10 of the 12 individuals are from Shaviyani Narudhoo. All these individuals are related to the captain of the boat who was initially tested positive from the cluster.
1 person has tested positive from N. Milandhoo in relation to this cluster.
The 49-year-old captain of ‘Amaaz’ boat was tested positive for Covid-19 on the 25th of April. The boat had left port from Male’ on the 15th of last month before the capital was placed under lockdown. The boat made several stops along its way before reaching its destination of Shaviyani Narudhoo.
