Health authorities confirm an individual suspected with symptoms of COVID-19 virus at Haa Alif Uligan have been tested.
According authorities, samples were taken from the suspected COVID-19 case to ensure results.
Reports confirm the local was residing in a flat at Male' City before traveling to Haa Alif atoll.
The local had traveled via a standard passenger boat originating from Ihavandhoo of the same atoll which had docked at the island of origin along with Hoarafushi, Thuraakunu and the atoll's capital Dhihdhoo.
The COVID-19 suspected local traveled to his island via a dinghy accompanied by another local.
Reports also confirm, a flatmate of the individual suspected with the virus had earlier tested positive for COVID-19.
Since the discovery of the first case from Greater Male' Region, a total of 15 positive cases for the virus have been reported from the area so far.
Contact Tracing by Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed more than 1,000 individuals in various contact clusters with several of them being elderly citizens.
Researchs have pointed the disease is mostly fatal to children and the elderly.
Maldives currently have a total of 35 confirmed cases of the virus, with 17 in treatment and 16 recoveries.
