Health Protection Agency HPA says those who traveled back to the islands from Male’ after last Wednesday should be placed under isolation as the fear of a massive Covid-19 outbreak grows.
In a statement HPA said any person who traveled back to the islands from Male’, Villimale’ and Hulhumale’ after last wednesday should isolate themselves for 14 days from the day the person returned back to the island.
HPA also said any person who has worked a loading or unloading crew of cargo aircraft or cargo sea vessel that operates from the Male’ area has entered Male’, the person should also stay isolated for 14 days upon return to the individual’s island.
HPA added that Local Councils and other relevant authorities will work to implement the said measures and ensure that these individuals stay isolated from the community for the next two weeks.
HPA also urged cargo vessels travelling to Male’ to pickup goods or essential items to follow the guidelines set by the authority.
Yesterday Police said vessels from islands and resorts will be allowed into Male’ North Harbor for essential goods pick and that only the crew can travel on these vessels. Police said that no passengers should be carried on these vessels as Male’ is currently under a 14-day lockdown.
Police also urged the vessel operators to inform the respective island councils before starting their journey to Male’.
