The official spokesperson on COVID-19 updates, Mabrouk Abdul Azeez on Thursday has confirmed 75 individuals who came in contact with positive Case 21 and 22 were at high risk.
During the press conference on 16 April, Thursday, spokesperson had confirmed a total of 207 individuals were discovered through contact tracing done for case 21 (the first confirmed positive case from Male' City - a Maldivian woman) and case 22 (the infant child of the woman).
Additional details at the press indicate, 43 out of the 207 contacts were at medium risk and 89 were at low risk.
On Wednesday, 15 April, the first positive case of the virus was reported from mainland Male'.
The case was confirmed after the infected had consulted at a local flu clinic for symptoms of cold, and post tests done to assess presence of the virus.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed that case 21, a local Maldivian woman, was a health practitioner and her infant child, case 22 and another relative of the woman living in the same building had tested positive for the virus.
On Wednesday afternoon, Maldives government announced a 24-hour lockdown on Greater Male' Region, banning all general and public transportation.
Citizens residing in the Greater Male' Region were advised to remain indoors and were made mandatory to seek online permits from Maldives Police Service to go outside for necessary tasks.
The total lockdown exercised on Greater Male' Region has been extended by another 24-hours on Thursday.
